Talk for Writing: POSH TALK
What is 'Posh Talk'?
As part of our ongoing drive to raise standards in writing, we are introducing a new teaching strategy called 'Posh Talk' in Key Stages 1 and 2 this week. It is based on the children developing a writing 'voice' through formal conversation because we don’t usually speak in full sentences and not many of us speak 'the Queen’s English'! As children rarely have the opportunity to hear this, how can we expect our children to write grammatically correct sentences containing interesting words?
