Introduction

Wheelbarrow News - Red Oaks Primary SchoolWheelbarrow News began as a joint project between Red Oaks and Bridlewood Primary Schools in 2008. Pupils, parents, staff, others from the community got their hands dirty and filled our tummies as we green up the playground and get growing.

KS1 and FS trialled the process in 2008 and these pictures show you what a success story growing our own food was. Last year everyone spent time digging, planting, sowing, weeding, watering, harvesting and eventually cooking and scoffing the produce as well as making our school environments look fab!
Here are Elm and Oak classes working on their hanging baskets for the front of the school.
Families from both schools had the chance to collect a FREE Growbag to start growing: see the tab above for pictures of the success they had.

We are also running a Green Fingered Tips message board so everyone can share their best tips for achieving the biggest and tastiest produce and the most colourful and vibrant gardens.
