Red Oaks Global Curriculum has a Glowing Review.
An evaluation of our global curriculum and international links has been done by Jilly Hillier from the Wiltshire Development Education Centre.
Here are some of Jilly’s comments
- Red Oaks has achieved an enormous amount in its first year. Important structures have been put in place to ensure that the Global Dimension takes high priority in the life and ethos of the school.
- International links play a very important part of the global curriculum at Red Oaks helping to shape attitudes and expand experiences of both staff and children.
- Visually, the school celebrates its global curriculum through its displays.
- Teachers are inspired and enthused by having the opportunity to have first hand experience of a country, as well as improving their own subject knowledge, which can be passed on to their learners.
- Pupils at Red oaks felt, as students, their voice was heard.
The children were familiar with the term ‘global citizen’ and felt a global citizen was ‘someone who has a lot of respect for other cultures and traditions, someone who cares for others , who gives to other countries and sometimes to people in the UK.
