Homework Challenges
Homework at Red Oaks: Our Pledge to Every Child
At Red Oaks, we believe homework should be purposeful, inclusive, and support every child to aspire, achieve, and grow. Our approach is designed to reinforce key skills, foster independence, and celebrate creativity—while respecting family time and children’s need for rest.
Each week, children receive homework in reading, spelling/phonics, and maths, with resources and tips shared via Class Dojo to help families support learning at home. We also run a termly whole-school creative challenge, encouraging children to explore new ideas and showcase their talents. These challenges promote inclusion and pride, with gallery-style showcases and opportunities to enter cross-trust competitions.
To ensure all children can succeed, we offer a Lunchtime Homework Club, run by Mrs Jacques on a Wednesday, where pupils can practise key skills in a calm and supportive environment. Homework can also be completed during Breakfast Club and Acorns wraparound care, providing flexible options for busy families.
At Red Oaks, homework is more than a task—it’s a chance to grow, explore, and shine.
