Children's School Improvement Plan 14/15 |
What is the problem?
The children at Red Oaks were tested on their fitness level by Jan Miller. She timed the children in their Golden Mile challenge and the results were not as good as everyone at Red Oaks would have liked. Therefore we need to work hard as a school to make these results much better before she comes back again in December 2014 to re-test us!
But how...?
How are we going to solve it?
Mr Cowell, Mrs Ballard and the children at Red Oaks had to think hard about how we could improve fitness across the whole school. They all got their thinking caps on...
What can we offer?
- Golden Mile break and lunchtime club
- Huff and puff at lunchtime
- Skate ramps lunchtime
- Skipping rotation at lunchtime
- Penalty shoot-out at lunchtime
- Timetabled class times on the MUGA for organised games and matches
- Table tennis at break times
- Skip it whole school workshop and follow up training for teachers
- Whole school training Football skills involvement in league and Cup final winners
- KS 2 tag rugby, Year 2 coaching and outside school competitions
- Hockey competitions and coaching for Year 4
- Athletics club after school
- After school clubs in dance football netball rugby, fencing and martial arts
- Isambard sports leaders working with KS1
- Year 6 NGkids intensive training /swimming over 3 days
We are serious about getting fitter.
So let's get started!
How will we know anything has changed?
We have chosen a group of children from across the school to be our Golden Mile monitors. They will calculate the amount of sports activity being done during break and lunch times. This will then be recoded on class Golden Mile charts.
Jan Miller will be back in December to test the children again and hopefully we will see a big improvement.
