Hockey

July 17: Hockey v St Franic
This season there were 2 teams from Red Oaks, they played away against St Francis. After a rather damp start, the teams soon warmed up whilst taking on their opposition. As their coach I was very proud of how they played, showing a really good understanding of the rules and some great tactical play too. The opposition voted AT Man of the Match for Red Oaks Rockets and MB for Red Oaks United, congratulations.

Quicksticks Tournament

July 16: Quicksticks tournament against St Francis Primary School 11th July 2016

There was a great turn out from the home team (Red Oaks 30 players), with 42 children taking part in total. 6 matches were played with Red Oaks dominating all matches against St Francis.
Red Oaks displayed some lovely linked passing, Indian dribbling, deflections into goal, strong tackles and there was some great umpiring knowledge. Some children even remembered to shake the opposition's hand at the end of the game, great sportsmanship Red Oaks!
It was brilliant to see so many supportive parents pitch side, thank you. Thanks also goes to the young leaders and the 2 other teachers for being match officials.
After the matches were played, certificates were given out and players were encouraged to now join Swindon Hockey Club to open up places for others. A white certificate represents attending 1 season, green certificates are for attending 2 seasons, and 3 children got gold certificates for attending 3 seasons. Congratulations!
