Our Aims

  • All children will become bilingual in BSL and English (written and, where appropriate, spoken).
  • All children will attain National Curriculum levels at the end of Key Stage 2 that are commensurate with their academic ability.
  • Children will have the chance to develop a strong Deaf identity and an understanding of both hearing and Deaf cultures.
  • Children will interact confidently and successfully with both deaf and hearing peers and adults.
  • Children will develop effective communication skills with both deaf and hearing people, including people who do not sign.
  • Children will have access to all aspects of school life including school trips, clubs and school events, with sign support as necessary.
  • Children will be encouraged to make full use of audiological equipment to support their use and development of residual hearing and spoken language skills.
